What is Licensed Home Child Care?

Licensed home child care is home-based care in a home approved by an agency that is licensed by the Ministry of Education.

Licensed homes are required to follow strict rules as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act.  These rules outline and regulate standards to ensure that providers’ homes are safe, and that proper health and sanitary practices are in place.  In addition, they ensure that meals and snacks are adequate and nutritious, that appropriate methods of child guidance are used, necessary records are maintained, and that activities and routines meet each child's needs.
